Towards 21st Century

                                                                      TOWARDS 21st CENTURY

Dear Parents,

Obviously we are in the 21st century and our school should be moving towards becoming 21st century school. We should be preparing students for 21st century skills through a curriculum which is interdisciplinary , integrated project based , transacted in a mode of experiential learning where learners are allowed to construct their own knowledge in multiple ways.

When I look back at my own childhood, I often think of the journey to school which was always on foot , although a team of boys some of who were younger and some older. We were , as boys in that age group often are , naughty, boisterous, curious and the learning that happened in that five kilometer long journey back and forth everyday of the school year was more permanent, long lasting, long term and influential than any which could have taken place in any conditioned classroom. The skills of collaboration , team work , adaptability , initiative , decision making through problem solving and critical thinking which were acquired in the hours spent walking were useful than the notes made in the classroom and often forgotten at the end of an examination.

The point I am making is that it is not the passage of time and arrival of 21st Century and therefore the 21st Century skills which is of immediate concern but the journey through school which needs to be valued both from the formal and non – formal perspective of learning.

Every year, when the academic year comes to an end and as the pressure builds up on these students to excel in their exams each of them seems to be striving just for that. It has been the constant effort from the school management and the staff to put the best foot forward to give the best a school could , to bring out the best , in each student. I would say that we have done our best.

Under the aegis of CBSE Board, all the CBSE affiliated schools are advised to follow CCE scheme and we have also initiated the scheme in our school. I am pleased to give the following quotation of Hon. Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal.  The CCE scheme was recommended by many National Commissions on education in the past and its implementation in schools has been long overdue. With the broader aim of examination reforms in mind , the scheme envisages that every learner is to be evaluated over the entire period of learning schedule rather than one “ shot three hour external examination at the end of a course of learning. Besides, the process of evaluation should also include and reflect all components of personality of an individual.

My dearest parents, as your ward is receiving the achievement record on the result day, kindly encourage your child to participate in the various program during the forthcoming academic year. Thus your child may wholeheartedly address the challenges of 21st Century through school education keeping in view of nation's interest.
