The School

PUSHPA H.S. SCHOOL was begun to meet the growing needs of a good School at Ashta town. It is managed by the Archdiocese of Bhopal, with the Archbishop, Most Rev. Dr. Leo Cornelio, as its Chairman.

HISTORY OF PUSHPA SR. SEC. SCHOOL ,ASHTA.

On the 23rd September 1966, Fr. Gauci and Fr. Mendonca left for Ashta. They met Dr. S.N. Gupta, a catholic resident of Ashta who was very influential and due to his frequent tours to the villages, has a great knowledge of the conditions prevailing in the Tehasil. Mrs. Gupta was also a Municipal Counselor. The Fathers met the Tahsildar Mr. N.P.Dube and other officers and leaders  at Ashta. They expressed their opinion very strongly to start a Girls Higher  Secondary School at Ashta.

On 1st July 1982 Pushpa Vidyalaya was started and Sr. Eugene of Congregation Sisters of St. Joseph was the first head mistress of the above school in Hindi medium. The credit goes to Late Most Rev. Dr. Eugene D’ Souza MSFS the then Archbishop of Bhopal and Fr. Edwin Mathias as its first Manager. During his tenure from 1982 to 1987 he struggled very hard to establish the institute from its scratches.  Later on, late Fr. Samuel Kavil, became the Manager of the School from 1987 to 1988 and carried out the normal work of the school. Pushpa school was progressing very gradually and Fr. Ravi Selvam appeared in the scene to add more colour to the school as the principal from 1988 to 1990. More challenges were  there during his time and he faced all of them very systematically. Then Fr. Xavier T Daniel came in the picture to face challenges. In his tenure from 1991 to 1994 he obtained due recognition from M.P. Board for Board exams from Xth Standard as well as XIIth Standard. During his time the first batch of XIIth Standard passed out successfully and went out to build their life for future.

To take the school into a smoother and to the way of progress, Fr. Sunny Sebastian became the principal from 1994 to 1997. He gave his strong determination to the school administration. Hence, knowing the trends of the times, he made a paradigm shift from Hindi Medium to English Medium. During this time, Late Most Rev. Dr. Eugene D’ Souza relinquished his office (20th May 1994) and Most. Rev. Dr. Pascal Topno S.J. took over as the Archbishop of Bhopal (17th July 1994). He extended his cooperation and support as the chairman in a more befitting manner. Fr. Antony Samy took over as the Principal of the school for a year from 1997 to 1998 and he did his best for the school in a short stipulated time. Fr. P.P. Joseph came as the Principal from1998 to 2001 as a cyclone and removed all the hurdles that the school was facing and achieved success. God’s power is stronger than human power and he insisted on prayer and faith in God as more important aspects in the life of a student. After serving the school in education apostolate for almost 18 years the Congregation of the Sisters of  Chambery withdrew from the school on 30th April 2001. We are greatly indebted to them for their committed service. Fr. Johnney P.J. took over as the Principal of the School from 1st July 2001 and he too faced numerous challenges in his life in the school administration. During his time the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Garden came forward to assist our school Management.  In 2007 the school was affiliated to CBSE Board and the first batch of Xth std went to give their Board exam. Thus the Little Pushpa School got connected with the entire nation after being affiliated to CBSE Board.

Over the years, teachers from Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh have come willingly and extended  their service with more dedication and commitment.  With the help of an imposing silver jubilee wing all the facilities in the laboratories are installed.

From 15th June 2009 till date Fr. P. Soosai has taken over as Principal and he has shown tremendous dedication and energy in taking the school towards success. He has been stressing on the importance of quality  education and discipline. As per the guidelines given by Hon. Union Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal , the revolution in education has to prepare the students for the 21st century with more skills  with a holistic development reflecting all components of personality of an individual as per the CCE pattern in CBSE BOARD .  We have constructed 12 more class rooms with teaching aid through smart classes. In order to stress more on quality education, from Nursery to Vth Standard we have added one more section . Added to this, we are confident in updating ourselves in education systems for the benefit of our students to make them better citizens of our country.  Taking inspiration from our Divine Master Jesus Christ and through the intercession of St. Theresa our Patroness the little Pushpa has grown into a big plant in imparting knowledge so that the students may become the salt of the earth in their  moral values besides being  better citizens of our mother land. May the Pushpites reach beyond the boundaries of our nation to overseas towards a better and prosperous life. Therefore, every student of Pushpa, may reach his/her ambition in life. My heartfelt gratitude to all the stakeholders for their contribution to Pushpa Sr. Sec. School in Education Ministry.
